<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To trace or verify a vehicle of which normal recognition of the license plate has failed. <P>SOLUTION: A monitoring device 10 includes: an area extraction part 17a which extracts an area matching features of a license plate from a captured image; a shape determination part 17b which determines whether a shape of the area extracted by the area extraction part 17a is a prescribed shape or not; a recognition part 17c which recognizes characters or a pattern within the area extracted by the area extraction part 17a; and a notification part 19 which notifies a center device connected to the monitoring device 10, of the captured image or feature information and imaging position information of a vehicle within the captured image in the case that a negative result is obtained in at least one of the area extraction part 17a, the shape determination part 17b, and the recognition part 17c. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
