<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an amount of evaporation of a treatment liquid to be small when the application operation of the treatment liquid is not carried out. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an application unit 208 which applies the treatment liquid 201 in a liquid chamber 206 to a paper sheet 100, a treatment liquid container 202 which stores the treatment liquid, a liquid channel 205 to be a supply route for supplying the treatment liquid in the treatment liquid container to the liquid chamber and to be a collection route for collecting the treatment liquid in the liquid chamber, and a temporary storage portion 204 which is formed in the liquid channel with an internal horizontal cross-sectional area larger than a cross-sectional area of the liquid channel and temporarily stores the treatment liquid collected through the liquid channel. The image forming apparatus is configured so that the treatment liquid collected through the liquid channel is supplied again to the liquid chamber. After termination of the collection operation of the treatment liquid, a liquid level of the treatment liquid present in the liquid channel is maintained in a first liquid channel 205A which has a smaller route cross-sectional area than the horizontal cross-sectional area of the temporary storage portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
