<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric tiller which is not stopped, even when the hand of an operator is separated from the grip of a hand handle for a short time. <P>SOLUTION: The small electric tiller equipped with an electric motor 8 for driving a rotary portion R for tilling a field is characterized by disposing an operation switch 33 for switching on or off a handle 12a or 12b, and disposing a motor driving control portion set so that the time from the switching-on of the operation switch 33 to the switching-on of a motor 8 is longer than the time from the detection of the switching-on of the operation switch 33 to the switching-on of the motor 8. Therefore, the motor is not switched off, when the operator switches off the operation switch 33 momentarily due to the vibration of the tiller on its turning or the like, and then immediately switch on.
