<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three dimensional image recognition device which allows a viewer to recognize a three dimensional image in a satisfactory state without depending on viewing angle, in which cross talk is reduced and excellent light sealing performance is assured. <P>SOLUTION: A three dimensional image recognition device used in combination with an image display unit 2 which displays a right-eye image and a left-eye image alternately at a predetermined cycle comprises: a first optical compensation plate 10 which has an in-plane phase difference of 100 nm-160 nm and is disposed in front of the image display unit; a pair of shutter element 11a and 11b to be worn by a user; and a drive unit that selectively drives the pair of shutter elements to operate corresponding to the switching operation of the image display unit between the right-eye image and the left-eye image. Each of the pair of shutter elements has a liquid crystal element 13 having a liquid crystal layer which orients vertically or substantially vertically when no voltage is applied, a second optical compensation plate 14 disposed facing the image display unit being interposed by the liquid crystal element with an in-plane phase difference of 100 nm-160 nm and, a polarization plate 15 disposed facing the image display unit being interposed by the liquid crystal element and the second optical compensation plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
