Class 74 (2) The follower 15 for. effecting raising and lowering of the needle bar through truck lever 16, or similar followers for effecting movement of the needle bar forward and rearward, movement of the catch bar or other mechanisms of knitting machines, is positioned between two complementary cams 13, 14 so that its movement is positively controlled in both directions. Alternatively, two followers, one for each cam, may be provided and also two truck arms each carrying a follower, the cams in these instances being staggered. Mechanism is provided for shogging the cam shafts 4, 5 of each pair of cams simultaneously when, for example, fashioning is to take place. Means also is provided for maintaining the needles in a lowered position when it is desired to do so by providing a linka'ge which is adjusted during the needle raising action of the truck lever to reduce the effect of this lever. |
