A sliding, automatic return, end cap retaining device 1 for a cover 2 of a fluorescent type strip light allows a light cover 2 to be removed and a fluorescent lamp to be replaced or maintenance carried out. The end cap 1 is connected via a bias means 4, for example springs, to a base of the light. The end cap 1 may have brackets 6,7 and shafts 5 to guide and support the end cap 1 during sliding movement. |
