A detachable footrest 1 is provided for wheeled seating such as a wheelchair, commode or other comparable seating, comprising a footplate 2 and a resilient clip [3, (Figure 1)] for detachably securing the footboard to a leg 4 of the chair. The clip has resilient portions 5 designed to snap-fit around the leg and is secured by a locking member or cap 6 that slidingly engages opposing sides 7 of the clip to enclose the leg. Preferably, the opposing sides define grooves 8 and the locking member comprises tongues 10 adapted to slide into the groves 8. There may be a stop means 13 to prevent the locking member sliding further than a predetermined position. Preferably, the locking member includes a tab or a handle 14 to aid removal of the member. The footplate, clip and/or the locking cover may be moulded from plastics. |
