PURPOSE: A multimedia data reception apparatus in a multimedia system and method thereof are provided to make a benefit through an advertisement image by changing 2D image multimedia data into a 3D image multimedia data. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia data reception apparatus includes a reception unit(101), a de-multiplexing unit(102), a synchronization unit(103), an insertion unit(104), a display unit(105), a control unit(106), a storage unit(107), an input unit(108), and a content providing unit(109). When 3D multimedia data is requested among the display unit of 2D multimedia data, the control unit controls the content of the memory unit during a multimedia providing time.
