POLYESTER FIBER FOR AIRBAG AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method for fabricating a polyester yarn for an air bag is provided to ensure excellent folding property and flexibility and to minimize the shock to people in a car. CONSTITUTION: A method for fabricating a polyester yarn for an air bag comprises: a step of melt-spinning polymers at 270-305 °C to prepare a polyester undrawn yarn; a step of stretching the polyester undrawn yarn; and a step of performing thermal fixation of the undrawn yarn at 170-250 °C. The polymer contains 70mole% of polyethylene terephthalate and has 1.2 to 1.8 dl/g of intrinsic viscosity.
