A method of adapting media (e.g. moving images, video) to be interactive includes the steps of: positioning an active layer (40) over the media; identifying a plurality of active zones (44 fig 1, 14 & 16) on the active layer (the zone may correspond to a displayed object or an action); and linking the active zones to information obtained from a source such that when an active zone of the active layer is triggered, feedback is presented to a user. Zones may move to track moving objects. The active zones may be embedded with a macro in the form of an extensible markup language (XML). The active layer may be a touch-screen. The active zones may be clickable, touchable or otherwise activatable zones. The activation zones may be embedded within the media. The invention may be used with interactive television.
