PURPOSE: A guide apparatus for a rolling mill and a control method thereof are provided to control the advancing direction of work pieces by detecting the direction and degree of inclination of the work pieces from the vibration of a side guide that contacts the work pieces. CONSTITUTION: A guide apparatus for a rolling mill comprises a side guide(10), a vibration sensor, and a bracket(50). The side guide guides a work piece passing through work rollers. The vibration sensor senses vibration caused by the contact between the side guide and the work piece. The bracket comprises a mount chamber, in which the vibration sensor is installed, and is coupled to the side guide. The bracket comprises a main body that provides the mount chamber and has an opening and a suction port, a cover that is detachably coupled to the opening and has a through hole, and an outer cover that is installed in the suction port and has a ventilation hole.
