PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to improve signal transmission efficiency between components of the liquid crystal display device by applying a wireless communication method. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of panel drivers drive a liquid crystal panel. A backlight unit(12) supplies light to the liquid crystal panel. A timing controller(8) controls each panel driver and the backlight unit by generating gate and data control signals and a dimming control signal. An RF transmission/reception module(13) supplies image data from a first RF transmitter and a plurality of synchronous signals to the timing controller using an SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) method. The RF transmission/reception module supplies the dimming control signal from the timing controller to the backlight unit using an RF communication method.
