The invention describes a generator for use in a wind turbine comprising a generator stator (210) and a generator rotor (400), the generator rotor (400) comprising a rotor yoke (402), and a plurality of magnets (406) disposed on said rotor yoke (402). The rotor yoke (402) comprises a plurality of cavities (408) disposed on a circumferential surface (401) of the rotor yoke (402) such that a position of each of said plurality of cavities (408) coincides with an area of essentially low magnetic flux density in the rotor yoke (402). The invention further comprises a method of assembling a generator. The method comprises at least the steps of assembling a generator stator with a generator rotor, wherein the generator rotor is outfitted at least with a rotor yoke, and a plurality of magnets are being disposed on the rotor yoke. Thereby a plurality of cavities (408) are formed in a circumferential surface (410) of the rotor yoke (402) such that a position of each of said plurality of cavities (408) coincides with an area of essentially low magnetic flux density in the rotor yoke (402). The invention further describes a wind turbine using the generator of the present invention.
