Class 46 A cartridge filter according to the parent Specification is modified by directing the flanges of the V- or U-shaped-section resilient outer and inner spacer rings 9 towards the outside. One inner resilient ring and one outer resilient ring only may be employed having great elasticity and the section of which is formed for example as a bellows as shown in Fig. 2, all the other spacer rings being rigid. In another modification, the spacer rings may take the form of toroidal coil springs of circular toric section as shown in Fig. 4 or of elongated toric section as shown in Fig. 5, a rigid open or closed annular core 34 being incorporated therein, such springs providing a coarser filtering action at the outer periphery and a finer fiitering action at the inner periphery the final filtering being effected by the filter discs 3, 4. The outer and inner spacing rings 9, 25, Fig. 1, with the filter discs 3, 4 therebetween are compressed between two centrally apertured end plates 7, 8 which are thus forced apart against a resilient split keeper-ring 32 located in a circumferential indent 27 in the tube 5 and against a flared rim 26 on the tube 5. Sealing members 29, 31 are provided between the endplates and the tube 5.</p> |
