METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CODING/DECODING DEPTH IMAGE USING COLOR IMAGE

PURPOSE: An encoding and decoding apparatus of a depth image using color image and method thereof are provided to reduce the bit generation rate of an encoded depth image through a pressure algorithm. CONSTITUTION: A depth image extraction unit(111) extracts a depth image through a sampling image. An encoding unit(112) encodes the extracted depth image and the inputted color image. A decoding unit(121) decodes the encoded color image and the encoded depth image. When the decoded depth image information does not exist, a depth image restoration unit(122) restores a part of the depth image through the decoded color image.
