PURPOSE: A gel electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is provided to reduce the uncharged area of an electrode plate, and to improve capacity properties and lifetime properties. CONSTITUTION: A gel electrolyte for lithium secondary battery comprises a gel polymer, a non-aqueous organic solvent, a lithium salt, and additives. The gel polymer comprises a repeating unit derived from a first monomer which has the chemical formula: A-L-E. The additives comprise a compound selected from the group consisting of a compound in chemical formula 10, a compound in chemical formula 11, derivatives thereof, and combinations thereof. A lithium secondary battery comprises a positive electrode containing positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing negative electrode material and the gel electrolyte.
