The present invention relates to methods of treating acromegaly and related symptoms therewith, decreasing growth hormone, decreasing IGF-1 and treating conditions associated with carcinoid tumors and VIPomas by using an implant for administering a controlled release formulation of octreotide. The implant comprises the octreotide in free or salt form providing release a therapeutically effective amount of octreotide over a period of about two months.
