PURPOSE: A method for changing a long message into a short message and system thereof are provided to improve a service satisfaction about a subscriber by grasping a reception terminal state. CONSTITUTION: An LMSC(Long Message Service Center)(120) transmits a grasped message support state to an LME(Long Message Entity)(140) by grasping the message support state of a reception terminal according to the request of a calling terminal which transmits data. The LME changes or discards short message data based on the message support state. A SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(150) transmits the changed short message to the reception terminal according to the short message transmission request of the LME.
