PURPOSE: An apparatus for transmitting data to a portable terminal and method thereof are provided to reduce data loss by automatically transmitting residual data when a user terminal is avoided from a shading area. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(50) transmits data based on data downloading request from a portable terminal in the first access point of a wireless LAN(Local Area Network). The control unit controls data downloading according to the disconnection of the portable terminal during the transmission of data. The control unit transmits the downloaded data to the portable terminal according to a signal received from the second access point of the wireless LAN.
