<p>PURPOSE: Turbo expander and method using a movable entrance guide vanes at the entrance of a compressor are provided to enable an operator to completely control the rotation speed of a shaft by an off-design condition. CONSTITUTION: A turbo expander-compressor system(200) comprises an expander(210), a firs set of movable entrance guide vanes, a compressor(224), a shaft(230), a second set of movable entrance guide vanes, and a controller. The expander expands introduced gas and comprises an expander impeller. The first vanes are attached to the expander and control the pressure of the introduced gas. The compressor compresses gas flowing from the expander and comprises a compressor impeller(226). The shaft supports and rotates the expander impeller and the compressor impeller.</p> |
