摘要 The invention relates to means for displaying information and is used for displaying three-dimensional objects and scenes in navigation systems, for computer-aided design and construction and for visualizing tomographic data, as well as in medical operations and the modeling of three-dimensional problems. The three-dimensional display with a three-dimensional screen consists of a set of light-diffusing liquid crystal modulators and a microdisplay-based video projector which forms images of sections of a three-dimensional object in the planes in which the modulators are situated. The electro-optical medium in the modulators and in the video projector microdisplay consists of smectic liquid crystals having ferroelectric properties and given boundary conditions. Conditions are proposed for obtaining, in the modulators, the maximum electrically controllable light scattering, including scattering of a bistable nature. An FLCOS type structure is chosen for the microdisplay. Conditions are proposed that provide for the partial untwisting of the helicoid in the absence of an electric field and for the analog phase modulation of light. The technical result is that of providing given physical and functional properties for the modulators and for the FLCOS type structure in the microdisplay, which properties provide for the visualization, in a three-dimensional display, of 30-100 sections of a three-dimensional object with a temporally successive change of colours.
