PURPOSE: An image display device and an operating method thereof are provided to prevent crosstalk and non-operation phenomena. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(170) outputs a reference signal based on a synchronous signal of an image signal. A transmitting unit transmits a reference signal. A shutter glass(195) receives the reference signal and includes a left eye glass and a right eye glass. The left eye glass and the right eye glass are opened based on a frequency of the reference signal. The frequency of the reference signal is smaller than the frequency of the synchronous signal.
