PURPOSE: A method for detecting a vehicle is provided to detect a vehicle forward or backward by using a monocular camera mounted in the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An image is inputted from a camera(100). An ROI(Region Of Interest) is set to detect a vehicle in the image(200). A base side candidate group is generated by using a base side histogram produced in the set ROI(300). A lateral candidate group is generated by using the base side candidate group of the vehicle(400). An actual vehicle is detected by applying a weak classifier and a strong classifier to the vehicle candidate group(500,600).
