摘要

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a veterinary composition for preventing and treating prion diseases which comprises an HIF-1a agonist as an active ingredient. More specifically, HIF-1a, whose expression is increased in a low oxygen state, alleviates the cytotoxicity which modified prion protein peptides have against nerve cells and so effectively suppresses cell death and increases the expression of normal prion proteins, such that it can be used as an agent for treating prion diseases or as a feed additive for relieving prion diseases.
