A method and system for publishing traffic information is provided by the present invention, the method includes: receiving an original traffic information data from a traffic information data source (S101); preprocessing the original traffic information data to obtain a traffic information data which can be published via Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) (S102); and publishing the traffic information data via WAP to provide the user with multiple kinds of traffic information services (S103). The present invention, which relates to the field of communications, is used for querying road condition information. The user can use the mobile device to query at any time according to the traffic information published via WAP. The user experience is improved by the multiple kinds of services for publishing information.
