METHOD DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR USE IN ION MOBILITY SPECTROSCOPY

<p>Provided is a device (2) for reacting a sample (32) with a reagent (12). The device has an elongated tubular portion (4) being connected to a housing (6). A capsule (10) contains a reagent and a tearable membrane (14) covering the reagent. The capsule is slidable in the housing from a first position in which the tip of the tubular portion does not contact the tearable membrane and a second position in which the tip of the tubular portion pierces or tears the tearable membrane. The device may be used with a swab (32) dimensioned to be inserted into the tubular portion so that the sample on the tip of the swab is located in the reagent when the capsule is in its second position. The invention also provides a sampling block (40) for heating the reagent and sample to form vapors from the sample. A gas is conducted through the vapors to pick up the vapors. The gas containing the sample vapors can then be analyzed, for example, by ion mobility spectroscopy.</p>
