The method involves removing particles from flue gas stream during a pre-purifying operation and removing sulfur-containing components during residue cleaning operation in a flue gas purification plant comprising reactor units (5a-5c). The flue gas stream of a motor (1) is supplied to one reactor unit in which pre-purifying operation is performed. The flue gas stream is transferred from the reactor unit to another reactor unit in which residual cleaning of the flue gas stream is performed, after the pre-purifying operation is performed. An independent claim is also included for a flue gas purification plant comprising two reactor units.
