MEMORY POWER MANAGEMENT VIA DYNAMIC MEMORY OPERATION STATES

PURPOSE: A memory power management via dynamic memory operation states is provided to improve the power efficiency of a memory by performing a dynamic memory frequency/voltage scaling. CONSTITUTION: A memory controller is connected to a processing core(310) which executes an application and a memory subsystem. The memory controller compares the performance threshold value and the monitored operation by monitoring the operation of the memory subsystem. The memory controller modifies operation voltage and/or frequency parameters of the memory subsystem and memory power-down and prefetch policy based on the monitored performance characteristics of the memory subsystem.
