Provided are a wireless relay station device and a wireless relay method such that it is possible to identify whether a signal is a multi-hop relay signal at a wireless relay station device and to appropriately relay downlink signals. Specifically provided is a wireless relay method in which a first wireless relay station device or a wireless base station device generates a control signal indicating that the signal had passed through a wireless relay station device and transmits the control signal via a downlink, and at a second wireless relay station device receives the control signal, decodes a downlink signal on the basis of the control signal, modulates the decoded downlink signal, and transmits the modulated downlink signal.
