<p>A gas sensor is diagnosed to check for a fault on the basis of the output property of the gas sensor during a warm-up. To this end, provided is a gas sensor fault diagnosis system (10) with a NOx sensor (1) which includes a main pump cell (2), an auxiliary pump cell (3), and a detection cell (5). During a warm-up of the NOx sensor (1), at least one of the detection cell (5), the main pump cell (2), and the auxiliary pump cell (3) is diagnosed to check for a fault on the basis of at least one of the rise property of the NOx output of the detection cell (5) immediately after the start of detecting the NOx output, the peak value of the NOx output, and the subsequent fall property thereof. Preferably, the detection cell (5) is checked for a fault when the NOx output rises at a low rate. Furthermore, at least one of the main pump cell (2) and the auxiliary pump cell (3) is checked for a fault when the NOx output falls at a low rate. Furthermore, the detection cell (5) is checked for a fault when the NOx output has a low peak value.</p> |
