The method involves providing an elastomeric encoder track that is made of water-based polyurethane rubber and strontium-ferrite powder, where a mixing ratio of the strontium-ferrite powder to the water-based polyurethane rubber is 40 to 80 percent. The encoder track is applied on a carrier e.g. sheet, by a screen printing process. The carrier is connected with the encoder track by sintering process at elevated temperature of about 155 degree Celsius and pressure of about 5 to 6 bar.
