The device (20) has a safety belt (1) arranged in a portion bordering on a detour location (4) to form a loop (3). An expander (2) is mounted on an inner side of the loop and formed as a blowing up unit that is inflatable by a pyrotechnic micro gas generator (10), where activation of the safety belt is tighten by increasing the loop. A final fitting of a safety belt system fastens the safety belt at a structure of a motor vehicle. The blowing up unit rests against a front end over a plant part (9) at the safety belt.
