PURPOSE: An array substrate for a fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display apparatus and manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by improving productivity. CONSTITUTION: A gate line and a gate electrode(108) are formed on a substrate. A pixel electrode(112) is formed at a pixel area at the same time. A gate insulation film(115) is formed. A data line(130) is formed on the gate insulation film. A source electrode(133) and a drain electrode(136) are formed at the same time. A protection layer(140) is formed. A drain pixel contact hole(143) is formed by patterning the protection layer and the gate insulation film. A common electrode(160) is formed. A pixel drain connection pattern(167) is formed at the same time.
