PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage booster circuit in which two or above voltage boosters are arranged in parallel, a defective switching element and a type of a fault can speedily be detected, and an appropriate fault management measure corresponding to the type of the fault can be taken; and to provide a motor driving circuit. SOLUTION: In the voltage booster circuit 20, the two or above voltage boosters 21 and 22 are arranged in parallel for outputting voltage induced by repetitively turning on/off coils 211 and 221, by a switching operation of the switching elements 212 and 222 through rectification means 215 and 225. The circuit is provided with a voltage detecting means for detecting control input voltage to the switching elements 212 and 222 and output voltage from the switching elements 212 and 222; and a fault detecting means for detecting the switching element which breaks down by monitoring a relation between control input voltage, and output voltage and discriminating whether the type of the fault is an open fault or not and a fault processing means.
