PURPOSE: An electrode for manufacturing chlorine by electrolysis is provided to improve activity of electrocatalyst by comparing the coating to a layer of the rutile structure material. CONSTITUTION: An electrode for manufacturing chlorine by electrolysis comprises an electrical conductivity substrate and coating. The electrical conductivity substrate is made from titanium and niobium valve metal. The coating includes the noble metal oxide or noble metal oxide mixture of 50 mol% and titanium oxide of 50 mol%. The noble metal oxide is the oxide of ruthenium or iridium. The coating comprises the oxide of anatase structure of minimum fraction.
