[PROBLEMS] To provide an aquatic organism sampling apparatus and method of sampling an aquatic organism whereby minute aquatic organisms contained in water can be collected and concentrated alive without damaging the individual bodies of the organisms. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A water storage vessel (1) allowing regulation of the water (W1) trapped in its interior to a given water quantity is provided thereinside with a filter cloth (3) for partitioning the interior of the water storage vessel (1) into two spaces (1A,1B) lying inside and outside, the filter cloth having a superior edge opening (3a) and an inferior edge opening (3b). A collection container (4) for collecting aquatic organisms is fitted to the inferior edge opening (3b) of the filter cloth (3). In advance, the trapped water (W1) is held in the water storage vessel (1) approximately to an extent such that the superior edge opening (3a) of the filter cloth (3) is exposed. A water (W2) containing aquatic organisms to be sampled is fed from the superior edge opening (3a) into the inside of the filter cloth (3). Thereafter, the trapped water (W1) lying outside the filter cloth (3) within the water storage vessel (1) is drained off to thereby collect the aquatic-organisms-containing water (W2) remaining inside the filter cloth (3) in the collection container (4). |
