<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for manufacturing an α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from an alcohol, an olefin or α, β-unsaturated aldehyde, a method of manufacturing the catalyst and a method of manufacturing an α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid by the use of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The palladium-containing catalyst contains palladium and ruthenium and is used in manufacturing α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids.
