<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrier which is made by forming a catalyst carrying layer containing an alkaline earth metal and/or an alkali metal on the surface of an alumina substrate, and prevents or inhibits the alkaline earth metal and/or the alkali metal from moving into the substrate to react with alumina in the substrate. <P>SOLUTION: In the catalyst carrier made by forming the catalyst carrying layer 3 containing the alkaline earth metal and/or the alkali metal on the surface of the alumina substrate 1 having a three-dimensional network structure, a zirconia layer 2 made of zirconia and/or stabilized zirconia is formed between the substrate 1 and the catalyst carrying layer 3. The average thickness of the zirconia layer 2 is 2-30μm, or the amount of the carried zirconia layer is 2-30 wt.% to the total catalyst carrier, and the particle size of the raw materials composing the zirconia layer is 5μm or less. The zirconia layer prevents or inhibits the alkaline earth metal and/or the alkali metal in the catalyst carrying layer from moving into the substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
