Parcelling by coating.-Apparatus for spraying cartons and packages with coating material comprises endless bands 5, 6, mounted on rollers 7, 8, and having depending supports 3, 4 with pointed ends adapted to engage the ends of the cartons presented by a conveyer 9. The bands convey the cartons past a series of nozzles 2 adapted to spray the entire surface of the carton, the points of contact of the supports constituting a negligable proportion of the area. At the end of the traverse, the points separate and allow the cartons to drop on a delivery conveyer. The cartons may be arranged to be rotated slowly when passing the nozzles, or may be gripped first in one position by the supports and then in another position so as to ensure complete coating. Discs or seals of celluloid, wax paper &c. may be applied to the cartons at the points at which they are to be engaged by the supports. |
