<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, having simple construction for injecting additive from an additive injection valve to a catalyst in a sufficiently wider range. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust emission control device, an exhaust pipe portion 15 on the upstream side from the vicinity of the catalyst 5 is partitioned with a partition plate 19 in the distributing direction of exhaust gas, into an exhaust gas passage 20 where the exhaust gas distributes and a duct portion 21 where there is no interference with the flow of the exhaust gas. The additive which is required for the reaction of the catalyst is injected from the additive injection valve 23 through the divided duct portion 21 to the catalyst 5. Thus, the additive α is injected from the additive injection valve 23 to the inlet of the catalyst 5 in a predetermined wider range without being affected by the flow of the exhaust gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
