The device has a locking mechanism having a rotary latch (3), and a set of swivelable pawls (4, 5), where one of the pawls (4) is blocked from being swiveled. A motor-driven actuating mechanism moves to a trigger lever (7) in such a manner that the trigger lever cooperates with both swivelable pawls (4, 5) one after the other during the trigger lever movement. The trigger lever is made up of plastic, and a drive wheel cooperates with a drive shaft when an actuating drive is accomplished with an electromotor. A mutual bearing forms the drive wheel with the swivelable pawls.
