The present invention relates to a percutaneously implantable prosthetic device suitable for replacing a deficient heart valve, the prosthetic device comprising:
a collapsible and expandable tubular support stent (380), the support stent adapted to be initially crimped to a delivery configuration for catheterization through a body duct to a target location in the human heart, the support stent adapted to be radially expanded from the delivery configuration to a deployed configuration, the support stent comprising a net-like frame capable of being crimped to a narrow state and then deployed to a wider state; and
a valve assembly having a tubular shape, the valve assembly comprising a tubular main conduit body having an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein the valve assembly comprises leaflets (371) at the outlet end forming a tricuspid leaflet assembly;
wherein the valve assembly is positioned within the support stent with the inlet end of the main conduit body secured to a bottom portion of the support stent, and the main conduit body at or adjacent the leaflets is stitched to the support stent along stitching lines to thereby provide the valve assembly with a three-dimensional tricuspid valve form when the support stent is in the deployed configuration, whereby when flow passes through the valve assembly from the inlet end to the outlet end the leaflets are in an open position allowing the flow to exit the outlet end, and when the flow is reversed the leaflets collapse so as to block the outlet end, and wherein the valve assembly is attached to the support stent with the net-like frame providing an open wall structure (378) radially adjacent the leaflets suitable for permitting blood flow therethrough. |
