FIELD: fire-fighting means. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention refers to a face mask of a respirator with a thermally hardened elastomeric seal that provides respiratory protection from airborne substances due to air filtration and/or the other pure air feed mechanisms. A composite protective face mask of the respirator comprises a rigid polymer case of a face mask having a first surface and a second surface, and a silicone element of a face seal chemically coupled with at least one of the surfaces: the first surface or the second surface; and a second silicone element chemically coupled with at least one of the surfaces: the first surface or the second surface. The rigid polymer case of the face mask comprises an inhalation valve, an exhalation valve or a speech opening, while the second silicone element forms an inhalation valve diaphragm, an exhalation valve diaphragm or a speech opening diaphragm.
