摘要 FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method for industrial production of pure MgCO3 involves crushing olivine-containing rock and bringing the crushed rock into contact with water and CO2. At the first step, which is carried out under pressure, a dissolution reaction takes place according to the equation Mg2SiO4(s)+4H+=2Mg2++SiO2(aq)+2H2O. At the second step, deposition is carried out at higher pH. The following reactions take place: Mg2++HCO3Çè-=MgCO3(s)+H+ and Mg2++CO3Çè2-=MgCO3(s).
