<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by improving sleep time efficiency of an optical network unit (ONU). <P>SOLUTION: An optical access system comprises: an optical line device connected to another network; and an optical network unit connected to the optical line device and a plurality of user terminals. The optical network unit acquires buffer capacity of a buffer provided in the optical network unit, and link speed between the optical network unit and the user terminals. If there has been no communication frame transmitted from either the user terminals nor the optical line device for a described time period, the optical network unit determines sleep time based on the acquired buffer capacity and the acquired link speed, and stays in a sleep state during the determined sleep time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
