OIL-RESISTANT POLYURETHANE SHOE SOLES MADE USING ALL-PROPYLENE OXIDE POLYOLS

<p>Polyurethane elastomers based on polyether polyols are prepared. The elastomers are made in a reaction of an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer and a mixture of high equivalent weight diols. The diol mixture includes one ethylene oxide-capped poly(propylene oxide) and one propylene oxide homopolymer. The diol mixture reacts rapidly with the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer to provide economically useful demold times. The elastomers are surprisingly resistant to oils, and as such are very useful as soles for work shoes.</p>
