A remotely configurable wireless intercom system (12) for an establishment (10) having a staff comprising a base station (14) connected to a wide area network and a plurality of headsets (16a-16n) in two-way wireless communication with the base station (14). The wireless communication link is configurable with at least one parameter which is adjustable by staff of the establishment (10) and remotely reviewable and remotely adjustable over the wide area communication network.
