An image processing device (10) is provided with: an imaging element (20) which acquires images; an optical system (22) for forming an image of the object to be imaged on the imaging element (20); and a distance measurement unit (16) which measures the distance of the object to be imaged on the basis of the size of the blur occurring in the image. The characteristics of the optical system (22) fulfil the conditions that in the range of distances for the object to be imaged measured by the distance measurement unit (16), the change in image magnification is at most a predetermined number of pixels when focus position is aligned with the side nearest to and the side farthest from the optical system (22), and simultaneously that errors in the point spread function of the optical system (22) caused by the image height are below a predetermined size so as not to affect the measurement of the distance of the object to be imaged by the distance measurement unit (16).
