摘要
464,161. Intermittent toothed gearing. SHACKLETON, J., and INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY CO., Ltd. Jan. 2, 1936, No. 120. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group VI] Means for feeding a web of cigarette-tipping material intermittently include feed rollers 25, 26, the former of which is driven intermittently by a Geneva gear 23a, to advance the web towards a knife 10 reciprocated by a crank-pin 16. A wheel 19 on the crank-shaft gears with a wheel 20 on a shaft 21 carrying a disc 22 provided with a pin for engaging the slots 23a of the Geneva wheel. The wheel 20 also gears with another wheel 28 connected to a continuous feed roll 29 for the web, which is led as shown at 49 around another feed roll 30 pressed against the roll 29. The speed of the latter roll is such that a loop 32 is formed between the continuous feed and the intermittent feed, the web passing from the loop over a guide 33, 34. Fig. 6 shows a modified Geneva drive which has a driving period of 270‹ and a non- driving period of 90‹, the driving disc 36 carrying a pin 38 engaging grooves 39 on the driven disc 37, and the grooves connecting with a common central recess 40, through which the pin passes for the 90‹ of non-driving before entering the next groove. During this non- driving period, the discs are locked by pins 42 on the disc 37 engaging a segmental projection 41 on the disc 36. With the latter form of drive, the knife may be actuated by a cam.
