The disclosed internal combustion engine control device maintains good exhaust emissions while preventing clogging of a fuel addition valve. An engine (10) is provided with a fuel addition valve (34) for adding fuel to an emission gas, wherein the fuel addition valve (34) performs fuel addition during reduction treatment with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst (32). An ECU (50) performs clogging prevention control to drive the fuel addition valve (34) even when fuel addition is unnecessary in order to prevent clogging of the fuel addition valve (34). Further, if exhaust emissions have been negatively affected by the clogging prevention control, the ECU (50) performs the clogging prevention control while changing the valve timing of a suction valve (16) to reduce exhaust gases. By this means, the amount of fuel injected for clogging prevention control is suppressed, and good exhaust emissions can be maintained.
